Today marks 13 years since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. As I've learned more from you about those fateful few days following the storm and the months of recovery that followed, I'm inspired by the resilience that was shown by our hospital and our community in the face of such adversity. It is a tremendous honor to work alongside so many of you who sacrificed so much in such difficult circumstances - even leaving your loved ones and often your homes - to care for the children and families we serve. Although a brief moment in time, our response in those difficult months following the storm will forever reflect our commitment to the well-being of the children of Louisiana.
To amplify that commitment, we've set an ambitious goal of transforming our organization into a top-tier Children's hospital over the next three years. We're investing in culture, talent, facilities, and technology in ways that we've never invested before. Over the course of this journey we will ask you to call on that same spirit of courage and resilience you demonstrated in the aftermath of Katrina and to approach our important work with that same sense of purpose and resolve. With leaders like you and a team like ours, I'm confident that we can overcome any obstacle that might lie ahead.
Thank you for all you continue to do for the patients and families we serve. Exciting times ahead!
