Diagnosis & Treatment of Hormonal Disorders

The Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes provides state-of-the-art diagnostic evaluation and treatment for children and adolescents with hormonal disorders. The faculty has particular interests in disorders of growth and development as well as diabetes.

The endocrine faculty also has extensive expertise and experience in the diagnosis and therapy of disorders of:

  • Puberty
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Genital abnormalities
  • Bone mineral disorders
  • Adrenal and thyroid abnormalities
  • The anterior and posterior pituitary

Our team

The medical staff is complemented by an endocrine nurse coordinator who arranges diagnostic procedures and provides educational support to patients and families in the administration of endocrine therapies and home management.

The department maintains a specialized multidisciplinary team for the comprehensive management of childhood diabetes. The team includes certified diabetes nurse educators, a pediatric nutritionist, a pediatric psychologist and a social worker. The team is dedicated to preventing long-term complications of diabetes and enhancing the quality of life for the patient and his/her family.

The team also evaluates children for endocrine disorders associated with obesity and participates in team management for the prevention of excessive weight gain and development of diabetes. More information can be found on our Healthier Together page.
