Our commitment to community
Children’s Hospital understands that transforming care for children happens beyond the walls of our hospital and clinics. Each year, we invest over $15 million in essential community programs.
Community benefits programs include:
-
Audrey Hepburn Children at Risk Evaluation (CARE) Center (Child Abuse Pediatrics):
Our CARE Center provides clinical excellence in child abuse forensic medicine,
along with active treatment, consultation, prevention, training, education
and research.
-
ThriveKids Student Wellness Project: At Children’s Hospital New Orleans,
we’re bringing health directly to kids at school with innovative school based programs designed to advance the health and wellbeing of Louisiana’s students.
-
The Parenting Center: The Parenting Center at Children’s Hospital helps parents and grandparents with the ordinary challenges of raising children. Our staff of Parent Educators come from a variety of backgrounds to help families grow from birth through adolescence.
-
Immunization Program: Our mobile vaccination unit serves the New Orleans metropolitan area by visiting various locations for convenient accessibility. Clinic hours are scheduled in the evenings and on Saturdays providing free vaccines for eligible children through the age of 18.
-
Miracle League: We are proud to provide financial support to the Miracle Leagues of the Northshore and Greater New Orleans, which provide any disabled child, regardless of their level of disability, the opportunity to play league sports and enjoy the emotional and physical benefits of being part of a team sport.
-
Hogs for the Cause Family Center: Our 12-room, on-campus family housing center provides a home away from home for families whose children are receiving life-saving care in our hospital, free of charge.
