It has been an extraordinary several years of growth in pediatric surgical
services at Children’s Hospital New Orleans, and it is a privilege
to share our vision and news of our program with you.
Children’s Hospital has always been a trusted resource for families
across Louisiana and the Gulf South, and today we are proud to have expanded
our services as the regional center for complex care.
In 2019, I came to Children’s Hospital New Orleans to lead and expand
pediatric surgical services for the hospital, and I could not be more
excited about what we have accomplished together for the children of Louisiana
and their families.
Children’s Hospital has made a transformational investment in the
future health and wellbeing of our children. Last fall, we completed a
$300 million campus expansion that includes 235,000 square feet of new
clinical care space, enabling the expansion of our several of our high-complexity
services – cardiac intensive care, cancer care, surgical services,
emergency and trauma care, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, and
behavioral health – in an environment specially designed for all
children and only children.
In addition to investments in facilities and technology, Children’s
Hospital has recruited physicians trained in top pediatric programs across
the country to address the challenges our children and communities are facing.
Combining the new perspectives of these leading providers, with the strong,
energized collection of LSU and Tulane pediatric experts has created a
dynamic and distinct group of professionals ready to serve our mission
to deliver a healthier tomorrow for children.
Having greater surgical expertise at the hospital means a greater ability
to treat more complex conditions and to perform more complex procedures.
From congenital heart surgery, solid organ transplants, airway reconstruction,
craniofacial surgery, and robotic surgery to advanced orthopedics, our
surgical breadth is on par with other leading pediatric healthcare institutions
across the country. Access to care at Children’s Hospital is life
changing and in some cases, lifesaving, for Louisiana families who may
have had to previously seek specialized surgical care outside the state.
Exciting times are ahead for surgical services at Children’s Hospital
New Orleans.
