Learn More About Career Shadowing at Children's Hospital
We’re glad you’re interested in learning about healthcare at Children’s Hospital New Orleans (CHNOLA). As a teaching hospital it is part of the foundation to foster involvement in the healthcare industry.
Residents, Fellow Physicians, Medical Students, PA students and Psychology
Students completing clinical training: You are not onboarded through volunteer services. Please contact
LCMChealthAcademicAffairs@lcmchealth.org for onboarding information.
Minimum age requirement: 18 years old
Undergraduate and graduate students: We have a variety of shadowing opportunities with physicians, nurses,
Research, Radiology, Respiratory, and therapies, including physical, occupational,
speech, music, recreation, and Child Life. You must already have a sponsoring
staff member to apply.
How to apply:
- Create your online Career Shadow Portal. You cannot upload the documents below if this first step isn’t completed.
- Complete and upload LCMC Observer Application.
- Complete and upload signed Sponsor Forms.
Upload the following vaccination records:
- Two MMR vaccinations and two varicella vaccinations or titer test for measles, mumps, rubella and varicella showing positive results.
- Tdap (whooping cough) immunization (valid for 10 years).
- Hepatitis B immunizations x3
- Current QuantiFERON Tuberculosis Gold Blood Assay Test within last six months.
- Flu vaccination during flu season. (Flu season starts September and ends the following year in April)
- Copy of Driver’s License or legal photo I.D.
Our priority is the care and safety of our patients; therefore, it is the expectation that students and staff strictly adhere to our policies. Prospective students will only be allowed to participate at CHNOLA if they follow all the appropriate procedures.
