Meet Sophia Liriano, Queen of the Founder’s Krewe of 1955

She sees a team of pediatric specialists ranging from cardiologists and allergists/immunologists to gastroenterologists and hepatologists, to name a few. And she hasn’t let her extensive medical history upstage her determination to thrive. At Children’s Hospital and in life, Sophia is a leading lady. Sophia Liriano is the star of a remarkable story 17 years in the making.
Born with several heart defects, she had her first open-heart surgery
at Children’s Hospital at 12 days old. And that was just the beginning.
Through the years Sophia has had four open-heart surgeries, three stomach
surgeries, and four hip and knee surgeries.
