Steffan Sernich, MD
Dr. Steffan Sernich attended medical school at the Universidad El Bosque, Escuela Colombiana de Medicina in Colombia. He completed his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Sernich completed his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Tulane University School of Medicine and Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He continued his education at Tulane University School of Medicine with a 4th-year fellowship in pediatric cardiology critical care.
Dr. Sernich joined LSU Health and Children’s Hospital of New Orleans in 2007. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in Pediatric Cardiology at LSU Health New Orleans. Dr. Sernich is fluent in both English and Spanish. His clinical interests include bicuspid aortic valves and aortopathy. He especially enjoys following his patients from his first encounter, which is sometimes as early as during fetal echocardiogram into young adulthood.
When asked why he continues his practice medicine, Dr. Sernich said, “Pediatric Cardiology is so specialized that we see our patients usually from birth. I love to watch them grow and have healthy lives because of the work we do here at Children’s Hospital.”
Dr. Sernich sees patients at the main campus of Children's Hospital in Uptown New Orleans, Children's Hospital Covington Health Center, Ridgelake Health Center, Children's Hospital Specialty Care - Baton Rouge, and Children's Hospital Mississippi.
