Resources for Families

Resources at The Heart Center

Philanthropic support

Thanks to the generosity of the Henry Aucoin Foundation, the Congenital Heart Foundation of Louisiana, and the Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation, we have been able to make improvements to our Heart Center and assist families financially.

The Heart Center Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC)

The Heart Center at Children's Hospital has its own Patient Family Advisory Council. The PFAC consists of 14 Heart Center parents that meet on a quarterly basis to discuss ideas, ways to improve and to give general input and feedback to Children's Hospital and Heart Center leadership. The PFAC acts as a representative council for all Heart Center families. More information can be obtained by emailing at HeartCenterPFAC@lcmchealth.org

Cardiology Outcomes and Research Team (CORT)

The Cardiology Outcomes and Research Team (CORT) facilitates the research endeavors of the Heart Center and Children’s Hospital New Orleans. Research is an important component of advancing the field of pediatric cardiovascular medicine and improving the care of babies, children, and even adults born with heart disease. The Heart Center has many clinical research studies which focus on cardiology care. Families being cared for by the Heart Center may wish to learn about and potentially participate in these studies. Interested families should contact Marla Johnston.

Conquering Congenital Heart Disease

The Louisiana Chapter of Conquering Congenital Heart Disease provides knowledge, gives a voice and hope, directly meeting the comprehensive, lifelong needs of patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) and their families. Their work includes providing Conquering CHD Kits which offer critical information and personal connection for patients with CHD, online chat networks, in-person peer support, social events, research promotion and advocacy activities.
