At The Heart Center

Thanks to the generosity of the Henry Aucoin Foundation, the Congenital Heart Foundation of Louisiana, and the Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation we have been able to make improvements to our Heart Center and assist families financially.

Understanding Congenital Heart Defects

Monthly "Bonded by Hearts" Family Dinners
Bonded by Heart dinners are monthly opportunities for Heart Center patients and their parents to come together and form personal bonds with other families who understand the challenges of living with CHD.

The Heart Center Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC)
The Heart Center at Children's Hospital has its own Patient Family Advisoty Council. The PFAC consists of 14 Heart Center parents that meet on a quarterly basis to discuss ideas, ways to improve and to give general input and feedback to Children's Hospital and Heart Center leadership. The PFAC acts as a representative council for all Heart Center families.

Cardiology Outcomes and Research Team (CORT)
The Cardiology Outcomes and Research Team (CORT) facilitates the research endeavors of the Heart Center and Children’s Hospital New Orleans. Research is an important component of advancing the field of pediatric cardiovascular medicine and improving the care of babies, children, and even adults born with heart disease. The Heart Center has many clinical research studies which focus on cardiology care. Families being cared for by the Heart Center may wish to learn about and potentially participate in these studies. Interested families should contact Marla Johnston.
