Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Multidisciplinary Clinic

Children’s Hospital New Orleans offers an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) multidisciplinary clinic to better serve the children of Louisiana and the surrounding states. We treat children and adolescents with Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and indeterminate colitis. Working in partnership with the family, we manage each child with an individualized therapy plan designed get them back to feeling like their best self!

Our IBD team is comprised of:

  • Pediatric Gastroenterologists
  • Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner
  • Gastroenterology Fellows
  • Registered Dietitian
  • Child Psychologist
  • Registered Nurses
  • Social Workers (as needed)
  • Pediatric Surgeons (as needed)
  • Collaboration with pediatric pathology and radiology
  • Referrals as needed to pediatric rheumatology, ophthalmology, dermatology among many other specialties as determined by your child’s case

Our team practices high quality, evidence-based care incorporating the most recent research and therapies. Our facilities offer endoscopic procedures, MRI and CT enterography, pill capsule endoscopy, pediatric laboratory on-site, child-centric radiology suites, and pediatric infusion center to name a few. We have expertise in managing biologic medications and work with our dietitian to incorporate nutritional strategies such as exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN).

Our program is actively involved in the international Improve Care Now collaborative that seeks to promote optimal health outcomes for pediatric IBD nationally, locally, and worldwide through extensive quality improvement initiatives.

The IBD clinic accepts second opinions for pediatric patients diagnosed with IBD, internal referrals from LCMC facilities, and referrals from outside providers.
