Dentistry and Orthodontics
Preventive care is a critical component to oral health. At Children’s Hospital, our dental clinic is operated by the LSU Health New Orleans Department of Dentistry. The clinic provides preventive and therapeutic oral heal services for infants, children, and adolescents up to the age of 21. Our primary focus is on the prevention of oral diseases through early intervention. Regular checkups and cleanings are important to screen for early signs of oral disease, which can lead to additional health problems in other parts of the body.
Our services include:
- Comprehensive oral exams
- Professional teeth cleanings
- Fluoride application
- Sealants to protect against tooth decay
- Pulp therapy for tooth pain management
- Space maintainers to protect gum integrity of permanent teeth
- Orthodontics assessments
- Trauma care
- Education on proper tooth care for kids
The Orthodontics Department at Children’s Hospital New Orleans provides
routine and specialized orthodontics care for children and adolescents.
Our services include treating children with cleft palates and cleft lips
to more involved syndromes that affect the shape of the facial bones,
jaw, and teeth.
Our team works closely with our pediatric dentist, plastic surgeons, and speech therapists to provide this specialized care that children may need. Our team will create a personalized plan of care for each child while providing support for the child and family along the way.
