Children’s Hospital New Orleans recognized as January 2022 Hospital of the Month by Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS)

This national recognition highlights Children’s Hospital’s many safety and quality achievements, and outstanding work in pediatric patient safety.

NEW ORLEANS Children’s Hospital New Orleans is proud to annouce that it was selected as the January 2022 Hospital of the Month by Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS), a network of more than 145 children’s hospitals across the country who are driven by the shared goal to urgently reduce and then eliminate serious harm for the children being cared for in our facilities.

“It takes the entire organization’s commitment to build a culture of safety, and I am incredibly proud of the culture we have built at Children’s Hospital New Orleans,” said Leron Finger, MD, Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer. “Safety and quality are things that we live all day, every day, and this SPS recognition is a reflection of that commitment.”

This important recognition for Children’s Hospital New Orleans is based on a comprehensive body of work and results, including 100% compliance with data submission for our Hospital-Acquired Conditions (HACs) processes and outcomes, reduction of harm including improvement for Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSIs), and improvement in a sustained rate of zero for serious adverse drug events.

The recognition was also given based on the continued, ongoing participation by the Children’s Hospital New Orleans team to promote the “All Teach, All Learn” mantra of SPS in which participating hospitals are encouraged to consistently share and learn from each other.

“I am incredibly proud of this national recognition for Children’s Hospital New Orleans,” says John R. Nickens IV, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “It is a reflection of our number one focus on safety and quality, which is essential in providing the best possible care for the children of Louisiana and the Gulf South who we have the privilege to serve”.
