Hurricane Laura’s path of destruction in Lake Charles left hospitals in need. They had to evacuate their patients due to the lack of air conditioning among other damages, and Children’s Hospital New Orleans came to help rescue 3 newborn babies from the NICU at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Sandy Amato, a nurse and member of the transport team, was no stranger to evacuations. Just 15 years ago, she helped evacuate babies to Lake Charles. Now, she was able to return the favor.
