Here are some of our tips on how to make sure you child beats the Louisiana summer heat!
- Make sure your child dresses in light colored, lightweight, loose-fitting clothing on hot days.
- Schedule activity and sports for cooler times of the day. Take rest periods in shady or cool areas.
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially on hot days. Drinks of choice include water and sports drinks.
- Make sure your child wears a hat and uses a sunscreen.
- Spray cool water on your child to help him or her cool off.
- Increase time spent outdoors slowly to get your child's body used to the heat.
