Children's Hospital New Orleans Announces Jamie Wiggins as new Senior Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer

Jamie Wiggins, previous Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Children’s Hospital New Orleans, brings clinical expertise and leadership to new, expanded role as Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.

NEW ORLEANS – Children’s Hospital New Orleans, the largest and most comprehensive provider of pediatric healthcare services in Louisiana, is proud to announce the internal appointment of Jamie Wiggins as the organization’s Senior Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer

“Jamie has been instrumental in Children’s Hospital’s growth and success since he joined the team in 2017, and we are thrilled that he will be assuming additional clinical responsibilities in his expanded role,” said John R. Nickens IV, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “With Jamie’s work ethic, leadership and vast clinical experience, Children’s Hospital will continue to provide expert care for patients and families across Louisiana and the Gulf South.”

As Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, Wiggins will serve as the hospital’s executive over non-physician clinical services including radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, rehabilitative services, and nursing. In this expanded role, Wiggins and Children’s Hospital Chief Quality Officer Leron Finger, MD will partner to ensure Children’s Hospital exceeds quality and performance targets that align with the organization’s strategic priorities to achieve Magnet® Designation and US News and World Review ranking. Wiggins also serves as the service line executive for the Cancer Center, Surgical Services, and Neonatology at Children’s Hospital, three of the hospital’s signature programs.

Children’s Hospital is committed to providing highly specialized pediatric care to children across the State of Louisiana and the Gulf South. Wiggins has played a critical part in achieving this vision. In his nearly four years at Children’s Hospital, he has initiated a cultural transformation process that started in the nursing division and has expanded across the organization. Additionally, Wiggins partnered with Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – New Orleans School of Nursing to initiate the Primary and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Programs through an innovative academic partnership with Children’s Hospital.

Wiggins joined the Children’s Hospital leadership team in 2017 as Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to joining Children’s, Wiggins held leadership positions at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Children’s Minnesota, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

Wiggins is adjunct faculty at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – New Orleans School of Nursing and is a board member on the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Wiggins earned his Associate Degree in Nursing from Pitt Community College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of San Francisco, Master of Science in Nursing and Health Systems Leadership from University of California – San Francisco, and Master of Business Administration from Nicholls State University. Wiggins is a Doctor of Nursing Science candidate at LSUHSC-NO where he is researching the association of the nursing professional practice environment on pediatric acute care outcomes. Wiggins is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a certified Nurse Executive-Advanced by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
