Event raises awareness for bicycle safety and aims to help children live healthier lives.

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Jan. 28, 2019) – As part of a UnitedHealthcare public service campaign to reinforce the importance of wearing helmets when cycling, UnitedHealthcare employees in partnership with Children’s Hospital and Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana, discussed nutrition and fitness, healthy exercise, and demonstrated how to properly ride bikes and wear bicycle helmets during an event held Saturday.

Hosted on the Children’s Hospital campus, NOPD officers led bicycle safety demonstrations for youth ages 6-18. Fifty bicycles with helmets were donated by UnitedHealthcare to young patients at Children’s Hospital New Orleans and members of the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana.

“Children’s Hospital was thrilled to partner with UnitedHealthcare and the New Orleans Police Department to educate parents and children in our community on bike and helmet safety while promoting the importance of regular exercise and healthy living,” says John R. Nickens IV, President and Chief Executive Officer, Children’s Hospital. “What better way to do this than through UnitedHealthcare’s generous donation of new bicycles?”
