A Message From Our Chief Medical Officer

George Bisset, III, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Would you consider taking your child to see an oncologist if he/she had a concussion? The answer should be “No,” because you want to match physician expertise with patient problems. So, if you have a sick child you should seek care from a physician trained in pediatrics! Whether the patient is a critically ill premature infant with heart and lung problems, or a high school athlete with a sports injury, Children's Hospital is here to provide compassionate, high quality care to every child. Our Medical Staff, comprised of over 400 physicians, is unmatched in our region. In addition to providing primary pediatric care, every pediatric medical or surgical specialty is available to provide comprehensive care for your child. This expertise, combined with our excellent pediatric nursing and allied health professionals, makes Children's Hospital the best place for the healthcare of children in the Gulf South. We are the only hospital that cares exclusively for children and adolescents in the state of Louisiana.

Our mission as an organization is to provide the best care possible in a friendly, patient and family-focused environment. At every level, our priorities are quality and patient safety. We participate in patient safety and specialty treatment quality collaboratives such as the Children's Hospital Association Solutions for Patient Safety and the Children's Oncology Group, so that we can deliver optimal care.

We are here for every child, with every healthcare need. We are the health experts for kids!
