  • Dr. Paul Hyman specializes in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Motility at Children’s Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut then completed his residency training at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York. He then completed a fellowship in Digestive Disease at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Hyman is the Eberhard Schmidt-Sommerfield endowed Chair in Pediatric Gastroenterology and serves as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and the Division Chief of Gastroenterology at LSU Health New Orleans. With more than 40 years of experience, Dr. Hyman is certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. On why he continues to practice Pediatric Gastroenterology, Dr. Hyman said, “I enjoy solving difficult clinical problems that have not responded to standard community care. I am grateful for the opportunity to improve quality of life for the children and families that I evaluate and treat. We’ve come so far in understanding complex interactions of brains and bodies and I’d like to continue learning new things to help children and families.”
