NEW ORLEANS - Seth Pincus, MD, director of The Research Institute at Children’s Hospital and professor of pediatrics and Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology at LSUHSC, received a $100,000 grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Pincus' research lab in New Orleans will create antibodies which could wipe out a hard-to-eradicate reservoir of HIV cells in people infected with the AIDS virus. He is the only researcher in Louisiana or Mississippi among more than 100 scientists getting one of the latest round of "Grand Challenge Exploration" grants.
