The Children's Hospital Telethon, held Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, was a huge success and surpassed the 2011 total raising $1,812,422. Money raised is used to ensure the most advanced medical and surgical equipment is always available and that no child is turned away because of their family’s inability to pay for services.
There was much excitement at the start Saturday afternoon when the LaHatte family came to be interviewed. Jason Lahatte, 15, had been waiting for a kidney and the call came when they were on the way to WDSU studios. After their interview they went to Children's Hospital to begin the process. Sunday morning at 8 a.m. Jason LaHatte went into surgery to receive a kidney. His family provided updates throughout the day and Sunday afternoon Jason was recovering in the PICU.
Thank you to all those who generously donated to Children's Hospital during this year's Telethon.
