The Pulmonology Department provides inpatient and outpatient pediatric pulmonary consultations, available for evaluation, diagnosis and therapy. Common disorders include asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, stridor, pneumonia and many other acute and chronic respiratory disorders. The department also offers modalities including intensive care, acute, chronic and home ventilation, pneumograms, sleep studies and fiberoptic bronchoscopy. The Pulmonology Department utilizes the most modern computerized pulmonary function, metabolic and stress test equipment.
Management expertise includes, but is not limited to:
- Asthma Home
- Ventilation preparation for families whose child is dependent on a mechanical ventilator
- Cystic fibrosis
- Chronic cough
- Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
The Pulmonology Department is located in the Ambulatory Care Center at Children’s Hospital. Patients are also seen at the Children’s Hospital Outpatient Center of Baton Rouge.
