The Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition team at Children’s Hospital specializes in treating infants, toddlers, school-age children and adolescents with problems related to the gastrointestinal system. These include liver disease, feeding disorders, metabolic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, motility disorders, stomach problems and diarrhea.
Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures include:
- esophagogastroduodenoscopy
- colonoscopy
- flexible sigmoidoscopy
- percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy for placement of feeding tubes and buttons
- foreign body removal
- esophageal varices therapy
- polypectomy
- esophageal, antroduodenal, colonic and anorectal manometry
- 24-hour pH-probe monitoring
- gastrojejunal tube placement
- breath hydrogen testing
- liver biopsy
- nutritional support
Our interdisciplinary team, consisting of physicians, dietitians, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers, works closely together to coordinate the most effective treatment plan for each child.
